Sawasdee torn chao (good morning) all!
We’re never short of a good drink here in Bangkok. After all, what better way to cool off than a nice chilled glass of hand crafted beverage? Sure, we all know that you can get the Thai beers (Singha, Chang, Leo, etc.) anywhere – but if you’re feeling a bit classier and experimental, why not hit up one of these so called “secret” bars.
Not exactly Alice’s wonderland, but this speakeasy, upscale bar does serve drinks inspired by the children’s book. A simple wooden door without signs that sit between Thonglor soi 5 and 7 will grant you access into this mysterious bar. The low-lit and laid back atmosphere of this two floor establishment serves well for individuals and larger groups. You’d be amazed by the extensive menu of cocktails the mixology masters have created. Do note that apart from complimentary nibbles, Rabbit Hole does not serve food. Drink prices range from 350 baht upwards.
Around the corner from Rabbit Hole, in a hidden alley opposite Thonglor Soi 6 is where the creative Joseph Boroski whips out his magic. A well trained expert whose created cocktail lists for five-star hotels surprises his guests with…well…no menus! The beautifully designed bar invites its guests to share their preferences, emotions, or any other description for a one-of-a-kind handcrafted drink. On the more expensive side with drinks ranging from 650 baht upwards, your personally designed drink is sure to tickle your sensations!
A bit of a cheat – this bar and restaurant is no secret at all, however, it does deserve a mention! Apart from a wide variety of food selection, Myst has got to be one of Bangkok’s cocktail show stoppers. Their mixology art is literally a performance, with plenty of tricks and wow factors to fascinate the curious. From rainbow shots, flaming drink towers to smoking booze – Myst is sure to be a crowd favorite. Prices range from 180 baht up for cocktails.
From Chao Hostel, walk 5 minutes to the National Stadium BTS, take the train to Thonglor station. Take a motorcycle or taxi to Thonglor soi 5 for Rabbit Hole and J.Boroski and Thonglor soi 10 or Ekkamai soi 5 for Myst.
